Planter Workshop: Beginner & Intermediate

4 Week Class
In this class we will be exploring hand building as well as throwing techniques on the wheel. Goals will include making 2-3 vessels for plants and growing clay handling skills.
Week 1: Intro to clay, go over basics such as tools, facilities, clay, slip and introduce coil building. Get into building some sweet/funky coil pots and show how we can make that idea more modern and refined.
Week 2: Intro to throwing, hopefully raise one successful vessel.
Week 3: Trim/ handbuild more.
Week 4: Glaze, pick plants.
6 students per class
Mondays 6:00pm - 9:00pm
May 30 - June 20 (pick up pieces later)
$300 / person (materials and plants included)
About the Instructor:
Jess is the Ceramics Manager at Mud Lake Studios and is also a resident artist in the studio. She came to Bend from Southern Oregon in 2018 where she received her BFA in painting and ceramics. She's been focusing on making functional ceramics since 2015 but is beginning to return to her interest in painting as she exploring combining the two mediums. When she is not in the studio, you can most likely find her somewhere in the mountains.
